For immediate release

The aixtream software is the core of all Ferncast products and marks the next level of live audio streaming and transmission platforms. While aixtream itself can be used as software installation or virtualization, it is also running on all of Ferncast’s hardware solutions as well. The company believes that this is a perfect showcase for the broad applicability and flexibility of the software. This flexibility includes modules for OTT streaming, audio transmission over SIP, DVB-compliant transcoding, audio capturing and many others.

Deutschlandradio, one of Germany’s public broadcasters, is one of the first customers using solutions based on Ferncast know-how and the aixtream system. Deutschlandradio is using OTT-streaming technology for three of their programs (DLF, DLF Kultur and DLF NOVA).

The stream content is in a variety of formats, such as mp3 Icecast, HLS AAC and Opus, and xHE AAC is currently being tested internally for future streaming applications. All of these streams are handled by aixtream-based technology. In total, more than 50 streams are created to reach all of the various decoding platforms and players, from smartphones to kitchen radios. Deutschlandradio continues to expand its online offerings and the technology powered by aixtream is in the center of these developments. As it supports Opus, xHe AAC, HLS, Icecast and DVB, aixtream is the perfect solution to take on any future challenges that Deutschlandradio or other customers might face. Meanwhile, the FernPipe concept makes the use of the software and all its powerful potential easier than ever. These advantages give Ferncast the greatest confidence that aixtream will take the audio market by storm.
